The Silk Road Ensemble. One big happy musical family.. awwww*

People paste pictures of rock stars on their walls and all. But I have a picture of him on my wall. Not in this pose though, but of a close up of him gazing off camera, craddling his cello. his fingers looking insanely long and sensitive and delicate.. Oh I wish I had this too.
OMG I AM FINALLY GONNA MEET YO YO MA AND THE SILK ROAD ENSEMBLE APRIL 29th!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A Western Cello, a Chinese traditional Pipa, the Iranian Kamancheh, the Indian Tabla together in a music piece? That's very composer's nightmare I suppose!
But such musical miracles are creatively, and divinely fused together in the sheer genius that is The Silk Road Ensemble. Founded by the famous cellist, Yo Yo Ma, this intercultural group aims to bring together musicians from all around the world, each masters in speaking the musical languages stemming from them being part of their unique cultural heritage. Brought together in a group, music becomes the medium through which ideas about culture, life experiences, shared joys and common sorrows are shared and more importantly, felt. The existence of the Silk Road Ensemble is profound. It is a tangible symbol of mutual tolerance. It is much harder to hate or be prejudiced against something or someone once you talk to, laugh with, play music, or simply just allow their music to move the depths of your heart.
The Silk Road Ensemble shows us all, in short, how World Peace is possible and done.
